NEW BERLIN INDUSTRIAL LIONS Volume 30 April, 2001
What a Meeting! The regular meeting of the New Berlin Industrial Lions Club, held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, was called to order by Lion President Ken Matheson at 12:15 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of America, and table grace. Lion Ron Kase read the minutes of the previous meeting. There were 12 Lions present. The guest speaker was Mary Jane Witte, from New Berlin Eisenhower Middle School. She thanked our club for supporting the GHOST Program, which is co-sponsored by the New Berlin Police Department. The programs help kids who are vulnerable because of the parents' inability to pay for participation in school events. She is able to leverage our donated funds by getting discounts from K-Mart, Kohl's Department Stores, and Cross-Roads. She is hoping to extend the program to New Berlin West H.S. in the future.
Lion Andries announced that the Contributions Committee made an emergency donation of $250 to a family who's the father had committed suicide. The donation was approved. Lion President Matheson announced that the mayoral debate is on, and reminded Lions to wear our club shirts. He again read the slate of officers for next year. Lion Del reported on the Bocci-ball Tournament. He is making the rounds of clubs, and hopes that about 25 teams will participate. Lion Louward reported that the web site is now operational at: Lion Matheson won the Tail-twister Raffle again, and Lion Dunn won the Birthday Raffle.

Saturday, March
31, 2001 Lion Del reported on the Bocci-ball Tournament. He still anticipated that about 25 teams would participate. He will purchase and donate vests for the 1st place teams. Because of the importance of this tournament, Tail-twister Del lost track of all other duties, lost his coin bank, left the room to look for it, and consequently could not block a motion to fine him $5.00 for dereliction of duty. The motion passed unanimously and Lion Del was seen grumbling as he made his contribution. According to everyone's recollection, Lion Del is on track for the record number of fines during any one term. Good Luck, Lion Del! Lion Andy will report on dues at the next meeting. Lion Winter won the Tail-twister Raffle, and Lion Matheson this time won the Birthday Raffle.
