Club Sets New Direction!

The club members met on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 to discuss the recommendations put forth by the Membership Committee. That committee had gathered facts via a survey of the membership, then met on January 11 to turn the survey results and recommendations provided by the members into a set of solid recommendations.

The membership approved the following recommendations after through discussion:

  • Dues should be billed semi-annually.

  • Dues should be increased to $50 annually.
  • Active members and "leave of absence" members should pay the same dues.
  • Tail-twister and birthday raffles should not be included in the dues.
  • "Leave of Absence" members should be expected to work fund raisers and should be expected to sell raffle tickets.
  • The club should offer social events semi-annually, and those should include spouses and significant others.
  • The club should not exclude females from membership.
  • The club should have a guest speaker or a function for one meeting per month, and the other meeting should be designated a business meeting.
  • Members should be encouraged, but not required to being a guest to meetings.
  • Meeting times should stay the same. However, it is very important that the meetings end on time.
  • Members also approved the printing of a brochure to help in recruiting new members.

The meeting was held at Citizens Bank of Mukwonago's New Berlin Office. We with to thank the bank and Lion Tom Haase for the use of their outstanding meeting facilities. At the end of the meeting the bank presented the club with a check for $425.00 for our Humanitarian Fund. Thank you!

Entry fee will be $100 per team of 4-5 people, and includes a 3 game minimum, food and beverages on both days. So it looks like a bargain.

A number of members attended the District 1-A convention last month and hopes are high for a successful first tournament. So mark your calendars for the above dates and be prepared to participate both days. See Bocce Ball flier.

By the way, Lion Del spells his favorite sport Bocce-ball. Maybe Mr. Expert Italian American Jim Masters, A.K.A. James Mastacusa, could call the editor at his convenience to come to a final and correct spelling before the flyers are printed.

That's all there is on this or any other subject, so see you all at this Wednesday's meeting back at good old AMF lanes.
