New Berlin Industrial Lions Club
August 15, 2001
Minutes of the New Berlin Industrial Lions Club The regular meeting of the New Berlin Industrial Lions Club, held on Wednesday, August 15th , 2001, was called to order by President Lion John Tews at 12:15 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of America, and table grace. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as printed. There were 11 Lions present. Old Business - Lion President Tews introduced a discussion of "New Direction" goals as listed in our February, 2001 minutes . Highlighted were social events, guest speakers, time schedule and recruitment of new members. Membership recruitment was extensively discussed and it was the consensus of the attending members that work needed to be done in expanding our efforts. The membership committee was directed to submit proposals for a program of recruitment. A "Spike for Sight" report was given by Lion Tim Enters indicating that some additional billings needed to be collected before final numbers could be documented. New Business - Lion Any Spence asked if there was interest in selling Entertainment Books and the response was positive so he would have the books available in September. Lion Tim Enters indicated that we need to have new Spike for Sight member assignments for the coming 2002 effort. This also relates to new Membership recruitment. Lion Jack Winter suggested a possible new fundraiser event called "Bike & Car Show." Income will come from entry fees and food sales. Concern was raised about member work assignments and ability to handle the work. There was a general discussion on possible changes in meeting schedules. It was generally agreed that the two meetings a month are still appropriate. One meeting should be a business meeting and one should be centered on a guest speaker. There was discussion of the option of one day and one night schedule. It was decided that our September 5th meeting would be held at the Citizens Bank of Mukwonago. The birthday raffle was won by Lion Winter and the Tail Twisters raffle was won by Lion President Tews. The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 p.m. Respectfully submitted by Lion Secretary Ted Wysocki
