MINUTES OF LION'S REGULAR MEETING - 12/19/01 The regular meeting of the New Berlin Industrial Lions Club, held at AMF Recreation Center, New Berlin, on Wednesday, December 19th, 2001, was called to order by Past President Lion Ken Matheson at 12:15 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of America, and table grace. The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read. There were 11 Lions present. The members present took a moment to thank the chef for the variety and quality of lunches served to us. Communications - Lion Jack Winter distributed a current Financial Report. Lion Secretary Ted Wysocki reported that Wisconsin Energy would be interested in presenting an update on electrical power issues related to the Industrial/Commercial customers in New Berlin. If the Club would be interested in hosting a luncheon meeting on February 20th inviting interested parties to attend, Wisconsin Energy would be the featured program. It was moved, seconded and unanimously approved that the club had an interest in sponsoring the luncheon meeting if Wisconsin Energy would pick up the cost of mailings. Lion Ted will contact Wisconsin Energy with the offer. Old Business - Lion Jerry Louward reported on the registrations and room reservations for the District Lion's Convention to be held January 17th thru the 20th. Two rooms were reserved for Friday nite only. It was moved, seconded and approved to add four more registered members to bring to a total 6 club member registrations - Lions Tews, Fellenz, Gigante, Matheson, Enters and Baumann. A table with information and registration forms on the District Bocce Ball Tournament will be at the Convention center on Saturday from 8am - 11am. Discussion on Bocce Ball Lions Tournament. Lion Gigante is contacting clubs with an anticipated 15 teams for the days event. The registration deadline is two weeks before the tournament. A list of who is responsible for what activity in support of the event will distributed to the members. Lion Bob Fellenz will check with the VFW to see if we can setup Friday nite. Lions Gigante and Fellenz will contact the Lion's State organization to see if there would be support for a statewide Bocce Ball Tournament. Although we would look to hosting the first statewide event if approved, we could also offer the hosting club rental of our equipment. Lion Gigante will continue to report on this opportunity. Funding in the amount of $1000 allocated to the September 11th disaster was discussed in terms of whether or not it should come from our Humanitarian account or the unrestricted account. Lion Jack Winter asked for clarification so the check could be sent to the International designated disaster fund. After review of the purpose of the Humanitarian fund to be available for unplanned donations, It was moved and seconded that the donation should come from the unrestricted account. The motion passed with one dissenting vote by Lion Gigante. Lion Andy Spencer indicated there were still 3 entertainment books available for sale at Landmark Credit Union. New Business Lion Ken Andries brought forward possible holiday donations for three different families as recommended by Mary Jean Witty, Eisenhower H.S. and Pat Kure, NBPD. They were a senior family in need of financial help for payment of utility bills approximately $300 - $500: single mom with two children looking funds for clothing and shoes; and high school student taking care of herself and her younger sister needing clothing. There was considerable discussion as to dollar amounts that would be allocated to each family. It was finally Moved and seconded that a total of $1500 be allocated from the Humanitarian fund Account to Mary Jean Whitty to be used for the three identified needy families as she deems appropriate within the total amount of $1500. Motion passed with one dissenting vote by Lion Gigante. Lion Jerry Louward won Lion Ted's birthday raffle after members present serenaded Lion Ted. Birthday Boy Lion Ted and Lion Bob Fellenz won tail Twister Raffles. The meeting was adjourned at 1:45 pm. Respectfully submitted by Lion Secretary Ted Wysocki
